The printed total is 147, so the 22 cards from 148 to 169 are secret rares. The catalog also files eight more cards under this set with a letter after the number: Charmander (18a), Tapu Fini-GX (39a), Darkrai-GX (88a), Kirlia (92a), Porygon-Z (105a), Acerola (112a), Guzma (115a) and Kiawe (116a). Each is an alternate printing outside the numbered set, so they aren't counted here. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Burning Shadows, bought as singles, cost $1,842.33 on October 22, 2026. That is the 9th most expensive of the sixteen sets in the Sun & Moon series.

Complete set $1,842.33
Main set, 1 to 147 $432.98
22 secret rares $1,409.35
Top three cards $1,001.54 (54%)

The three most valuable cards, Charizard-GX, Fairy Energy and Wicke, come to $1,001.54, or 54% of the total. Without them the set costs $840.79. Of the 169 cards, 116 were under $2.00, together $37.38; the other 53 add up to $1,804.95.

Left out: eight alternate printings the catalog files under this set with a letter after the number, Charmander (18a), Tapu Fini-GX (39a), Darkrai-GX (88a), Kirlia (92a), Porygon-Z (105a), Acerola (112a), Guzma (115a) and Kiawe (116a). They aren't part of the numbered 169.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

No Burning Shadows card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed, apart from its basic Energy cards, which Standard allows from any set. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Every card in Burning Shadows is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
