What a White and green Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Is

The top half is white because the monster is a Synchro Monster, with its Synchro Material on the first line of the lower text box. The bottom half is Spell green because it can also sit in a Pendulum Zone.

White and green is an Extra Deck combination. The card never goes in your Main Deck.

How Synchro Pendulum Monsters Play

Synchro Summon it the usual way: a Tuner and non-Tuners you control whose Levels add up exactly to its Level. Every example on this page says that if the card in the Monster Zone is destroyed, you can place it in your Pendulum Zone, and that is how it becomes a Scale.

If it leaves the field another way and would go to the Graveyard, it goes to your Extra Deck face up instead. Some, such as Clear Wing Fast Dragon, have a Pendulum Effect that Special Summons the card back out of the Pendulum Zone.

Nirvana High Paladin shows how the two halves can meet: for its Synchro Summon, you can treat a Pendulum Summoned Pendulum Monster as a Tuner.
