Orange is the frame of an Effect Monster. Where a yellow card's text box holds flavor text, an orange card's holds an effect, and the type line ends in "Effect", as in [Fiend/Effect], or names a subtype instead.
Several kinds of monster share the orange frame and are told apart only by the type line: Tuner, Flip, Gemini, Spirit, Union and Toon. A Flip monster's effect starts with FLIP:, a Tuner can be used as the Tuner for a Synchro Summon, and so on. The frame is the same orange for all of them.
Orange monsters go in your Main Deck and use the same Normal Summon and Tribute rules as yellow ones. Some say they cannot be Normal Summoned and give their own way to Special Summon instead, and that condition is in the text box.
The effects come in four kinds. A Continuous Effect simply applies while the card is face up. An Ignition Effect is one you choose to activate in your Main Phase. A Trigger Effect activates when something specific happens. A Quick Effect can be used at almost any time, including on your opponent's turn. Monsters with a Quick Effect that works from the hand, such as Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Effect Veiler, are called hand traps, and they are why a player with no cards on the field can still interrupt you.
