Complete set as singles $3,350.98 on Oct 22

Ancient Origins is the seventh XY expansion: 98 cards up to the printed total. Above it are three secret-rare Pokémon, Primal Kyogre-EX, Primal Groudon-EX and M Rayquaza-EX (96 to 98), and two secret-rare Trainers, Energy Retrieval and Trainers' Mail (99 and 100).

Its eleven Pokémon-EX include three Mega Evolution lines, Sceptile, Ampharos and Tyranitar. Giratina-EX's Renegade Pulse blocks every effect of attacks from Mega Evolution Pokémon, and Hoopa-EX's Scoundrel Ring finds three Pokémon-EX when it comes onto your Bench.

Cards and rarities

Ancient Origins has 100 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/98", next to the set code AOR.

The printed total is 98, so the 2 cards from 99 to 100 are secret rares. The catalog also files one more card under this set with a letter after the number: Hex Maniac (75a). It is an alternate printing outside the numbered set, so it isn't counted here. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Ancient Origins, bought as singles, cost $3,350.98 on October 22, 2026. That is the most expensive of the fifteen sets in the XY series.

Complete set $3,350.98
Main set, 1 to 98 $3,323.36
2 secret rares $27.62
Top three cards $1,946.51 (58%)

The three most valuable cards, M Rayquaza-EX, Primal Kyogre-EX and Primal Groudon-EX, come to $1,946.51, or 58% of the total. Without them the set costs $1,404.47. Of the 100 cards, 65 were under $2.00, together $21.56; the other 35 add up to $3,329.42.

Left out: one alternate printing the catalog files under this set with a letter after the number, Hex Maniac (75a). They aren't part of the numbered 100.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

No Ancient Origins card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Ancient Origins is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on, except for Forest of Giant Plants (74/98) and Hex Maniac (75/98), on the Expanded banned list.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
