Generations came out in February 2016, between BREAKpoint and Fates Collide, as a special set for the game's 20th anniversary. Many of its 83 numbered cards are Kanto Pokémon, with Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise each as a Pokémon-EX and a Mega Evolution.

Inside it is the Radiant Collection, 32 cards numbered RC1 to RC32, with Flareon-EX, Sylveon-EX, Gardevoir-EX, M Gardevoir-EX and a full-art Pikachu. The Radiant Collection's full arts are the set's most valuable cards, ahead of the main set's M Charizard-EX.

Cards and rarities

Generations has 115 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/83", next to the set code GEN.

The printed total is 83, and the set has no secret rares. Above the numbered cards is the 32-card Radiant Collection, RC1 to RC32, which is part of the set and counted in the table. The catalog also files two more cards under this set with a letter after the number: Jolteon-EX (28a) and Team Flare Grunt (73a). Each is an alternate printing outside the numbered set, so they aren't counted here. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Generations, bought as singles, cost $1,819.00 on October 22, 2026. That is the fifth most expensive of the fifteen sets in the XY series.

Complete set $1,819.00
Main set, 1 to 83 $585.32
Radiant Collection $1,233.68
Top three cards $540.20 (30%)

The three most valuable cards, Flareon-EX, Sylveon-EX and M Charizard-EX, come to $540.20, or 30% of the total. Without them the set costs $1,278.80. Of the 115 cards, 61 were under $2.00, together $27.42; the other 54 add up to $1,791.58.

Left out: two alternate printings the catalog files under this set with a letter after the number, Jolteon-EX (28a) and Team Flare Grunt (73a). They aren't part of the numbered 115.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

No Generations card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed, apart from its basic Energy cards, which Standard allows from any set. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Generations is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on, except for Red Card (71/83), on the Expanded banned list.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
