Flashfire Set Guide

Charizard's set. Flashfire prints Charizard-EX three times and M Charizard-EX four times, and the secret-rare M Charizard-EX (108) is worth more than the rest of the set's top ten together.

Five Flashfire chase cards fanned out: M Charizard-EX, M Charizard-EX, M Charizard-EX in front, Charizard-EX and M Charizard-EX.

Overview

Release date May 7, 2014
Set code FLF
Cards 106 numbered, 109 in total
Series XY
Complete set as singles $2,842.55 on Oct 22
Regulation mark None, printed before regulation marks

Flashfire is the second XY expansion: 106 cards up to the printed total and three secret rares above it, two M Charizard-EX and M Kangaskhan-EX (107 to 109).

Charizard runs through it. Charizard-EX is printed three times, all Fire (11, 12 and the full art at 100), and M Charizard-EX four times, as a Fire Mega Evolution (13 and 107) and a Dragon one (69 and 108). The set also introduced Lysandre, a Supporter that switches one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon into the Active Spot.

Cards and rarities

Flashfire has 109 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/106", next to the set code FLF.

The printed total is 106, so the 3 cards from 107 to 109 are secret rares. The catalog also files one more card under this set with a letter after the number: Blacksmith (88a). It is an alternate printing outside the numbered set, so it isn't counted here. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Flashfire, bought as singles, cost $2,842.55 on October 22, 2026. That is the second most expensive of the fifteen sets in the XY series.

Complete set $2,842.55
Main set, 1 to 106 $957.65
3 secret rares $1,884.90
Top three cards $2,110.10 (74%)

The three most valuable cards, two M Charizard-EX cards and Charizard-EX, come to $2,110.10, or 74% of the total. Without them the set costs $732.45. Of the 109 cards, 89 were under $2.00, together $37.61; the other 20 add up to $2,804.94.

Left out: one alternate printing the catalog files under this set with a letter after the number, Blacksmith (88a). They aren't part of the numbered 109.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

No Flashfire card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Flashfire is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on, except for Milotic (23/106), on the Expanded banned list.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
