Calm and Mind in Riftbound

Calm and Mind is Riftbound's control pair. Calm holds battlefields and counters spells, and Mind draws the cards to keep doing it. As of October 2026 it has five Legends, with Ahri, Ornn and Orianna among them.

Calm and Mind is Calm (green) with Mind (blue). The control pair: counterspells, card draw and gear. As of October 2026 it has 5 Legends: Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox, Ornn, Fire Below the Mountain, Lillia, Bashful Bloom, Nasus, Curator of the Sands and Orianna, Lady of Clockwork.

How Calm and Mind plays

This pair wins slowly. Calm defends battlefields with Shield, Tank and combat tricks, and counters the opponent's spells; Mind draws cards and shrinks attackers with -Might. A typical game is spent holding the battlefields you control, answering what the opponent plays, and winning once their hand runs out.

Its Legends split into two plans. Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox and Lillia, Bashful Bloom defend: Ahri gives each enemy unit that attacks your battlefield -1 Might, and Lillia makes ready 3 Might Sprite tokens. Ornn, Fire Below the Mountain and Radiance's Orianna, Lady of Clockwork build around gear, Ornn paying for it and Orianna turning a gear into a unit. Nasus, Curator of the Sands readies 2 runes whenever you play something costing 7 or more.

What it does well, and what it doesn't

Strengths

  • Counterspells from Calm and card draw from Mind, the pieces a long game needs.
  • Strong defense of battlefields you already hold.
  • More gear support than most pairs, from Mind, Ornn and Orianna.

Weaknesses

  • Slow to win. Calm struggles to go on the offensive, and Mind's units are less efficient.
  • Calm's interaction mostly runs through its units, so an empty board leaves it with fewer answers.
  • Fast decks can take battlefields before the defense is set up.

These start from what Riot's Deckbuilding Primer says each domain is good and bad at, which the guide to Riftbound's domains covers in full. A pair's Legend can shift them: a Legend that draws cards helps a pair whose domains don't.

The Calm and MindLegends

As of October 2026, 5 Legends have exactly these two domains. Each one sets the same card pool, but their abilities point the deck at different plans.

Every Riftbound Legend lists all of them by domain pair, with each one's ability and price.

Calm and Mind Signature cards

Every two-domain Calm and Mind card printed so far is a Signature card. Each carries one champion's tag, so it only goes in a deck whose Legend has that tag, and a deck can hold at most 3 Signature cards in total. Riftbound Signature cards explains the rule.

Cards from each domain

Most of a Calm and Mind deck is single-domain cards, from either half. These show what each half brings: the first two are Calm, the last two Mind.

Building a Calm and Mind deck

Start with the Legend, since it decides the plan, then fill the main deck from both domains and split your 12 runes between Calm and Mind. A reasonable starting point is to count the Calm and Mind symbols in your costs and give more runes to the domain with more of them.

The guide to building a Riftbound deck covers the full rules. TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab marks a deck Not legal if a card or rune is outside your Legend's domains, and the decks players have published are at Riftbound decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Riftbound Legends are Calm and Mind?

As of October 2026, 5: Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox, Ornn, Fire Below the Mountain, Lillia, Bashful Bloom, Nasus, Curator of the Sands and Orianna, Lady of Clockwork. A Legend sets your deck's two domains, so these are the only Legends that can lead a Calm and Mind deck.

What cards can go in a Calm and Mind deck?

Any card whose domains are all Calm or Mind: cards with only Calm, only Mind or both, plus cards with no domain, such as battlefields. Every two-domain Calm and Mind card printed so far is a Signature card, which also needs your Legend's champion tag, and all 12 of your runes must be Calm or Mind.
