Mind and Chaos in Riftbound

Mind and Chaos is Riftbound's trickiest pair. More than half of the game's Hidden cards are Mind or Chaos. As of October 2026 it has four Legends, Teemo the first of them.

Mind and Chaos is Mind (blue) with Chaos (purple). Spells, Hidden cards and tricks: Teemo, Ezreal, Diana and Mel. As of October 2026 it has 4 Legends: Teemo, Swift Scout, Ezreal, Prodigal Explorer, Diana, Scorn of the Moon and Mel, Soul's Reflection.

How Mind and Chaos plays

Both halves like surprises. Through Vendetta, Mind and Chaos each had close to a third of the Hidden cards, which are hidden facedown at a battlefield and played later for no Energy, and both draw or dig for cards. Mind adds -Might to shrink attackers, and Chaos adds movement and ways to replay cards from the trash.

The Legends reward that style. Teemo, Swift Scout lets you pay 1 Energy instead of Power to hide a card. Ezreal, Prodigal Explorer draws when you have chosen enemy units or gear twice in a turn, and Diana, Scorn of the Moon adds 1 Energy during showdowns. Mel, Soul's Reflection becomes Empowered when you empower something else and spends it to give a unit -2 Might.

What it does well, and what it doesn't

Strengths

  • More than half of the Hidden cards are in its two domains, so opponents often can't see what is coming.
  • Card draw and digging from both domains.
  • Flexible answers: -Might, movement and returning units to hand.

Weaknesses

  • Few ways to remove a threat for good, since Chaos lists it as a weakness.
  • Mind's units are less efficient, and Chaos's bonuses rarely last past the turn.
  • Hiding a card costs Power up front, which competes with playing cards on curve.

These start from what Riot's Deckbuilding Primer says each domain is good and bad at, which the guide to Riftbound's domains covers in full. A pair's Legend can shift them: a Legend that draws cards helps a pair whose domains don't.

The Mind and ChaosLegends

As of October 2026, 4 Legends have exactly these two domains. Each one sets the same card pool, but their abilities point the deck at different plans.

Every Riftbound Legend lists all of them by domain pair, with each one's ability and price.

Mind and Chaos Signature cards

Every two-domain Mind and Chaos card printed so far is a Signature card. Each carries one champion's tag, so it only goes in a deck whose Legend has that tag, and a deck can hold at most 3 Signature cards in total. Riftbound Signature cards explains the rule.

Cards from each domain

Most of a Mind and Chaos deck is single-domain cards, from either half. These show what each half brings: the first two are Mind, the last two Chaos.

Building a Mind and Chaos deck

Start with the Legend, since it decides the plan, then fill the main deck from both domains and split your 12 runes between Mind and Chaos. A reasonable starting point is to count the Mind and Chaos symbols in your costs and give more runes to the domain with more of them.

The guide to building a Riftbound deck covers the full rules. TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab marks a deck Not legal if a card or rune is outside your Legend's domains, and the decks players have published are at Riftbound decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck.
