Disney Lorcana Ink Pairs

Amber & Amethyst Lorcana Decks: How the Pair Plays

Amber and Amethyst is one of the 15 two-ink combinations a Lorcana deck can be built in. This page covers how it plays, what it does well and badly, and the cards that show its plan, as of October 2026.

Amber & Amethyst is the yellow-purple pair. Amber's cheap singers and Support characters with Amethyst's card draw and Evasive characters: a deck that quests steadily and keeps its hand full.

How Amber and Amethyst plays

Amber and Amethyst was one of the three starter-deck pairs in The First Chapter, and it still teaches the game well. Amber brings characters that sing songs above their cost and Support characters that lend their strength, while Amethyst brings card draw and Evasive characters, which only other Evasive characters can challenge.

The usual plan is to put questers out early, keep the lore lead with Evasive characters the opponent struggles to reach, and use Amethyst's draw to find songs and answers. Pocahontas & Meeko tie the inks together: they have Evasive, and each time they quest you may return one of your cost 1 characters to your hand and then play a cost 1 character for free, so a cheap character with a useful effect gets used again.

The pair is lighter on removal than Ruby or Steel. Amethyst can exert opposing characters, but a big opposing character that stays in play can be hard to deal with, so most lists race for lore rather than try to control the board.

What it does well, and what it doesn't

Strengths

  • Amethyst's card draw keeps the hand full through a long game.
  • Singer characters let Amber play songs for free, often a turn or two early.
  • Evasive questers are hard for decks without Evasive characters to stop.

Weaknesses

  • Fewer ways to banish a character outright than Ruby or Steel.
  • Many of its characters have low strength, so it loses most even trades in challenges.
  • A high-willpower character the opponent can keep in play is hard for it to remove.

The Amber and Amethyst dual-ink card

A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it can only go in a deck built from exactly those two. As of October 2026, the Core-legal dual-ink cards are the 16 from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and one of them is in Amber and Amethyst.

Key cards from each ink

These show the plan described above rather than a decklist or this month's best cards: one from Amber and one from Amethyst. Every card on this page is from set 9 or later and legal in Core Constructed as of October 2026.

Where to start

Ravensburger has sold three starter decks in Amber and Amethyst as of October 2026. Each arrives as a legal two-ink deck, and each upgrade guide says what to cut and which cards to add.

To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks the list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build. Decks other players have published are at Lorcana decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck, such as Pocahontas & Meeko.

Pairs that share an ink

If Amber and Amethyst is close to what you want but not quite it, these keep one of its inks and change the other.
