Disney Lorcana Ink Pairs
Amber and Ruby is one of the 15 two-ink combinations a Lorcana deck can be built in. This page covers how it plays, what it does well and badly, and the cards that show its plan, as of October 2026.
Amber & Ruby is the yellow-red pair. Ruby's Rush, Reckless and removal with Amber's healing and recursion: an aggressive deck that keeps refilling the board.
New to the inks? The ink colors guide covers each one, and all 15 pairs are listed side by side.
Ruby challenges early and often, with Rush characters that can challenge the turn they arrive, Reckless characters that must challenge, and direct removal like Dragon Fire. Amber adds healing, Bodyguard and ways to bring characters back, so Ruby's challengers either survive their fights or return after them.
Sulley & Boo - Scare Buddies shows the idea. They use Combo Shift, which lets you play them for 4 ink on top of a character named Sulley, one named Boo, or one of each, and when they are banished you may play any character cards that were under them from your discard for free. The Horned King - Merciless Master works the same angle: while he is exerted, you may play characters from your discard.
The cost is card draw. Neither ink draws as well as Amethyst or Sapphire, so a long game against a deck that keeps answering threats can leave it with an empty hand.
Strengths
Weaknesses
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it can only go in a deck built from exactly those two. As of October 2026, the Core-legal dual-ink cards are the 16 from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and one of them is in Amber and Ruby.
These show the plan described above rather than a decklist or this month's best cards: one from Amber and one from Ruby. Every card on this page is from set 9 or later and legal in Core Constructed as of October 2026.
Ravensburger has sold one starter deck in Amber and Ruby as of October 2026. Each arrives as a legal two-ink deck, and each upgrade guide says what to cut and which cards to add.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks the list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build. Decks other players have published are at Lorcana decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck, such as Sulley & Boo.
If Amber and Ruby is close to what you want but not quite it, these keep one of its inks and change the other.
Ruby's Rush, Reckless and removal with Amber's healing and recursion: an aggressive deck that keeps refilling the board. Which version is strongest changes with each set, so treat any list as a starting point.
As of October 2026, the Core-legal one is Sulley & Boo - Scare Buddies, from Attack of the Vine! (set 13). A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it fits only a deck built from exactly Amber and Ruby.
Yes, one as of October 2026: Azurite Sea Amber & Ruby Starter Deck (Infinity only). It has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.
Not in Core Constructed or Infinity, where a deck uses at most two inks. Format Coconut, Ravensburger's multiplayer format in open beta, allows up to three.
The Deck Lab checks your deck's inks, size and copies against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build, and you can publish it to share the link. Free on iPhone, Android and the web.
