Disney Lorcana Ink Pairs
Amber and Steel is one of the 15 two-ink combinations a Lorcana deck can be built in. This page covers how it plays, what it does well and badly, and the cards that show its plan, as of October 2026.
Amber & Steel is the yellow-gray pair. Steel's Resist, Bodyguard and damage removal with Amber's Support and healing: a defensive deck that wins challenges and quests behind a wall.
New to the inks? The ink colors guide covers each one, and all 15 pairs are listed side by side.
Amber and Steel both carry a lot of Bodyguard, which forces opposing challengers to pick the Bodyguard, and Steel adds Resist, which reduces the damage dealt to a character. Together they make characters that are hard to banish in challenges, and Steel's damage actions handle what the board can't.
Lilo & Stitch - Fun-Loving Friends sums the pair up: Resist +1 and Support on a 5-cost character that quests for 3. Prince Charming - Protector of the Realm is the extreme version, a Bodyguard with 10 willpower, and while he is in play only one character can challenge each turn.
The pair is short on card draw and on Evasive characters. Opponents with Evasive questers can quest past the Bodyguards, and the pair has to answer them with actions.
Strengths
Weaknesses
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it can only go in a deck built from exactly those two. As of October 2026, the Core-legal dual-ink cards are the 16 from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and one of them is in Amber and Steel.
These show the plan described above rather than a decklist or this month's best cards: one from Amber and one from Steel. Every card on this page is from set 9 or later and legal in Core Constructed as of October 2026.
Ravensburger hasn't sold a starter deck in Amber and Steel as of October 2026, so this pair starts from your own cards. The starter deck directory lists the pairs that have one, if you'd rather begin from a ready-made deck that shares an ink.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks the list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build. Decks other players have published are at Lorcana decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck, such as Lilo & Stitch.
If Amber and Steel is close to what you want but not quite it, these keep one of its inks and change the other.
Steel's Resist, Bodyguard and damage removal with Amber's Support and healing: a defensive deck that wins challenges and quests behind a wall. Which version is strongest changes with each set, so treat any list as a starting point.
As of October 2026, the Core-legal one is Lilo & Stitch - Fun-Loving Friends, from Attack of the Vine! (set 13). A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it fits only a deck built from exactly Amber and Steel.
Not as of October 2026. Ravensburger hasn't sold a starter deck in Amber and Steel, so a deck in this pair starts from your own cards. The starter deck directory lists every pair that has one.
Not in Core Constructed or Infinity, where a deck uses at most two inks. Format Coconut, Ravensburger's multiplayer format in open beta, allows up to three.
The Deck Lab checks your deck's inks, size and copies against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build, and you can publish it to share the link. Free on iPhone, Android and the web.
