Disney Lorcana Ink Pairs
Amber and Sapphire is one of the 15 two-ink combinations a Lorcana deck can be built in. This page covers how it plays, what it does well and badly, and the cards that show its plan, as of October 2026.
Amber & Sapphire is the yellow-blue pair. Sapphire's ramp and items with Amber's healing and high-willpower questers: a slower deck that builds a big inkwell and outlasts the opponent.
New to the inks? The ink colors guide covers each one, and all 15 pairs are listed side by side.
Sapphire has more items than any other ink in the Core sets, and many of them, like Heart of Te Fiti, put extra cards into your inkwell. Amber has sturdy characters and healing to survive while that ink builds up. The result tends to be a midrange or slower deck that plays its expensive cards a turn or two before the opponent can.
The Madrigal Family - Every Generation joins the two halves. Once during your turn, when you remove damage from one of your characters, you put the top card of your deck into your inkwell, so Amber's healing becomes Sapphire's ramp. Ohana Means Family is a natural partner: it removes all damage from one of your characters and draws a card for each damage removed.
Neither ink is known for removal, so the pair relies on outgrowing the opponent rather than answering every threat. A fast Ruby deck can get ahead before the extra ink matters.
Strengths
Weaknesses
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it can only go in a deck built from exactly those two. As of October 2026, the Core-legal dual-ink cards are the 16 from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and one of them is in Amber and Sapphire.
These show the plan described above rather than a decklist or this month's best cards: one from Amber and one from Sapphire. Every card on this page is from set 9 or later and legal in Core Constructed as of October 2026.
Ravensburger has sold two starter decks in Amber and Sapphire as of October 2026. Each arrives as a legal two-ink deck, and each upgrade guide says what to cut and which cards to add.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks the list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build. Decks other players have published are at Lorcana decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck, such as The Madrigal Family.
If Amber and Sapphire is close to what you want but not quite it, these keep one of its inks and change the other.
Sapphire's ramp and items with Amber's healing and high-willpower questers: a slower deck that builds a big inkwell and outlasts the opponent. Which version is strongest changes with each set, so treat any list as a starting point.
As of October 2026, the Core-legal one is The Madrigal Family - Every Generation, from Attack of the Vine! (set 13). A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it fits only a deck built from exactly Amber and Sapphire.
Yes, two as of October 2026: Rise of the Floodborn Amber & Sapphire Starter Deck (Infinity only) and Fabled Amber & Sapphire Starter Deck (Core legal). Each has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.
Not in Core Constructed or Infinity, where a deck uses at most two inks. Format Coconut, Ravensburger's multiplayer format in open beta, allows up to three.
The Deck Lab checks your deck's inks, size and copies against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build, and you can publish it to share the link. Free on iPhone, Android and the web.
