Disney Lorcana · Inks
Amethyst is Disney Lorcana's purple ink: sorcerers, magic and card draw. It draws more cards than any other ink, exerts opposing characters so its characters can challenge them, and has the most Rush and Challenger characters. This page covers how it plays and the cards that show it, as of November 2026.
Amethyst is the purple ink, one of Disney Lorcana's six. Card draw and tempo. Amethyst draws more cards than any other ink, exerts opposing characters, and has the most Rush and Challenger.
Ravensburger's word for its characters is "wondrous." As of November 2026, 209 of the 1,229 cards legal in Core Constructed are Amethyst.
Amethyst wins by having more options than the opponent. It has the most cards that draw in Core, 42 of its 209, from Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe, who draws a card and gains 1 lore whenever you exert him and pay 1 ink, to Hades - Looking for a Deal, who makes the opponent choose: you draw 2 cards, or their chosen character goes to the bottom of their deck.
Its answers bend the rules rather than banish. Amethyst has the most cards that exert opposing characters, and only an exerted character can be challenged, so Demona - Scourge of the Wyvern Clan exerting every opposing character opens the whole board to your challengers. Elsa - Spirit of Winter goes further: the two characters she exerts can't ready at the start of their next turn, so they can't quest either. Other Amethyst cards return characters to hand or move damage counters around.
When it does fight, it fights on its own terms. Amethyst has the most Rush characters, which can challenge the turn they are played, and the most Challenger, which adds strength while challenging. Its 20 Evasive characters can only be challenged by other Evasive characters, so its questers are often out of reach.

Counted by TurnZero HQ from the 1,229 cards in Fabled (set 9) through Hyperia City (set 14), the sets legal in Core Constructed as of November 2026. Each full name counts once, so an Enchanted version or a reprint isn't counted twice, and a dual-ink card counts for both of its inks. The last column compares Amethyst with the other five.
Shift is left out because every ink has plenty of it. A card that only gives a keyword to other characters isn't counted.
The classifications Amethyst has an unusually large share of: Sorcerer (39), Gargoyle (7) and Seven Dwarfs (7). The Lorcana keywords guide explains each keyword.
How many Amethyst cards have rules text that does each of these at all, whoever it targets. It shows what the ink leans on, not how strong its cards are: a card that draws one card and a card that draws three count the same.
Each is Amethyst only and legal in Core Constructed as of November 2026. They show the ink's plan, not a decklist or this month's best cards.

A Core Constructed or Infinity deck uses at most two inks, so almost every Amethyst deck is one of these five pairs. Each page covers how the pair plays, its key cards and its starter decks.
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it only fits a deck built from exactly that pair. As of November 2026, the Core-legal ones are from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and 6 of them include Amethyst.

A starter deck is the simplest way to try an Amethyst deck: it arrives as a legal two-ink deck you can upgrade. Ravensburger has made 7 with Amethyst; each has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks your list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build.
Amethyst is purple. Its symbol under a card's cost is purple and the frame is tinted to match, so players often call an Amethyst deck a purple deck.
Drawing cards and controlling tempo. In the Core sets as of November 2026, Amethyst has the most cards that draw (42), the most that exert opposing characters (13), and the most Rush (12) and Challenger (10) characters. It has almost no cards that banish or deal damage directly.
Ravensburger describes Amethyst as wondrous: sorcerers, sages and animated objects. It has 39 of the 59 Sorcerer characters in the Core sets, and its effects tend to bend the rules (exerting, bouncing, moving damage) rather than hit things.
209 as of November 2026, counting each full name once across Fabled (set 9) through Hyperia City (set 14): 158 characters, 16 actions, 13 songs, 16 items and 6 locations. 6 of them are dual-ink cards from Attack of the Vine!.
It depends on what you want the deck to do, and the strongest pair changes with each set. Amethyst can pair with any of the other five inks: Amber (songs, card draw and evasive questers), Emerald (evasion and card advantage), Ruby (rush and evasive aggression), Sapphire (control, card draw and ramp) and Steel (challengers and removal). Each pair has its own page on TurnZero HQ.
