Amber Ink in Disney Lorcana: How It Plays and Key Cards

Amber is Disney Lorcana's yellow ink: the one that sings. It has more songs and more Singer characters than any other ink, protects its questers with Bodyguard and Support, and removes damage more often than any other ink. This page covers how it plays and the cards that show it, as of November 2026.

Amber is the yellow ink, one of Disney Lorcana's six. Songs, singers and protection. Amber has the most songs, Singer, Bodyguard and Support characters, and the most ways to remove damage.

Ravensburger's word for its characters is "purposeful." As of November 2026, 207 of the 1,229 cards legal in Core Constructed are Amber.

How Amber Plays

Amber's plan is to quest steadily and make each turn's ink go further through songs. A song is an action any character can sing instead of paying for it, by exerting a character whose cost is at least the song's cost. Singer characters count as a higher cost for that, so Ariel - Singing Mermaid, a 4-cost character with Singer 7, can sing any song that costs 7 or less. Amber has 20 of the 79 songs in Core and 14 of its 25 Singer characters.

It protects the characters it quests with. Bodyguard characters can enter play exerted, and an opposing character that challenges must pick a Bodyguard if it can, so a Bodyguard soaks up the challenges meant for your questers. Support lets a questing character add its strength to another character, which can then win a challenge it would lose alone. Amber has the most of both keywords in Core.

Amber also removes damage more often than any other ink, which keeps a damaged character questing instead of being finished off. What it lacks is a steady way to remove opposing characters. Its characters have the lowest average strength of the six inks, so it relies on its partner ink, or on one big swing like Raging Storm, to deal with an opposing board.

What It Does Well, and What It Doesn't

Strengths

  • Free actions: the most songs, Singer and Sing Together cards, so a turn can play a song and a character for the ink of one.
  • Bodyguard keeps its questers alive, and Support lets another character win a challenge it would lose alone.
  • The most cards that remove damage, which undoes the chip damage Steel and Emerald deal.

Weaknesses

  • The lowest average strength of the six inks (2.5), so it loses most even trades in challenges.
  • Little repeatable removal; most Amber decks borrow it from Ruby, Steel or Emerald.
  • The fewest non-song actions, so it has few cheap tricks to answer something on the opponent's turn.

Amber by the Numbers

Counted by TurnZero HQ from the 1,229 cards in Fabled (set 9) through Hyperia City (set 14), the sets legal in Core Constructed as of November 2026. Each full name counts once, so an Enchanted version or a reprint isn't counted twice, and a dual-ink card counts for both of its inks. The last column compares Amber with the other five.

Keywords Amber uses most

Shift is left out because every ink has plenty of it. A card that only gives a keyword to other characters isn't counted.

Bodyguard14 of 2458% of them
Singer14 of 2556% of them

The classifications Amber has an unusually large share of: Princess (18), Toy (11) and Madrigal (10). The Lorcana keywords guide explains each keyword.

What Amber Cards Do

How many Amber cards have rules text that does each of these at all, whoever it targets. It shows what the ink leans on, not how strong its cards are: a card that draws one card and a card that draws three count the same.

Cards That Show What Amber Does

Each is Amber only and legal in Core Constructed as of November 2026. They show the ink's plan, not a decklist or this month's best cards.

  • Ariel - Singing Mermaid: Singer 7 on a 4-cost character, so she can sing any song that costs 7 or less for free.
  • Circle of Life: An 8-cost song that several of your characters can sing together, exerting a total cost of 8 or more, to play a character from your discard for free.
  • Nani - Protective Sister: A 3/6 Bodyguard for 5: an opposing character that challenges must choose her (or another Bodyguard) if able.
  • Rapunzel - Ready for Adventure: A 2-cost Support character, and whenever one of your characters is chosen for Support, the next damage it would take before your next turn is prevented.
  • Ohana Means Family: Removes all damage from one of your characters and draws a card for each damage removed.
  • Raging Storm: An 8-cost action that banishes all characters, yours included. Amber's answer to a board it can't challenge through.

Amber Ink Pairs

A Core Constructed or Infinity deck uses at most two inks, so almost every Amber deck is one of these five pairs. Each page covers how the pair plays, its key cards and its starter decks.

Amber dual-ink cards

A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it only fits a deck built from exactly that pair. As of November 2026, the Core-legal ones are from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and 5 of them include Amber.

Where to Start With Amber

A starter deck is the simplest way to try an Amber deck: it arrives as a legal two-ink deck you can upgrade. Ravensburger has made 9 with Amber; each has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.

To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks your list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build.

Frequently Asked Questions

What color is Amber in Lorcana?

Amber is yellow. Its symbol under a card's cost is yellow and the card frame is tinted to match, so players often call an Amber deck a yellow deck.

What is Amber good at in Lorcana?

Songs and protecting its questers. In the Core sets as of November 2026, Amber has the most songs (20), the most Singer (14), Bodyguard (14) and Support (12) characters, and the most cards that remove damage. It has the lowest average character strength, so it usually borrows removal from its second ink.

Is Amber good for beginners?

Yes. Its cards are mostly straightforward characters and songs, Bodyguard teaches the challenge rules, and as of November 2026 Ravensburger has made more starter decks with Amber than with any other ink. Pair it with an ink that removes characters, such as Steel or Ruby, so the deck has answers.

How many Amber cards are legal in Core Constructed?

207 as of November 2026, counting each full name once across Fabled (set 9) through Hyperia City (set 14): 160 characters, 9 actions, 20 songs, 12 items and 6 locations. 5 of them are dual-ink cards from Attack of the Vine!.

What ink goes best with Amber in Lorcana?

It depends on what you want the deck to do, and the strongest pair changes with each set. Amber can pair with any of the other five inks: Amethyst (songs, card draw and evasive questers), Emerald (wide boards and evasive lore), Ruby (aggression that comes back), Sapphire (ramp and resilient questers) and Steel (bodyguards and a wall of willpower). Each pair has its own page on TurnZero HQ.
