Disney Lorcana · Inks
Sapphire is Disney Lorcana's blue ink: planners and inventors. It ramps by putting extra cards into the inkwell, has the most items and the most inkable cards, and can even remove a character by putting it into its owner's inkwell. This page covers how it plays and the cards that show it, as of November 2026.
Sapphire is the blue ink, one of Disney Lorcana's six. Ramp and items. Sapphire puts more cards into the inkwell than every other ink combined, has the most items, and the most inkable cards.
Ravensburger's word for its characters is "intellectual." As of November 2026, 208 of the 1,229 cards legal in Core Constructed are Sapphire.
Sapphire is the ramp ink. Normally you put one card into your inkwell a turn; 47 of Sapphire's 208 cards in Core put cards into an inkwell some other way, more than every other ink combined. Cinderella - Dream Come True may ink a card from hand and draw a replacement at the end of your turn if you played a Princess, and Moana - Curious Explorer lets you ink cards from your discard.
Ramp makes its expensive cards arrive early, and the same mechanic doubles as removal. Hades - Infernal Schemer and Let It Go put an opposing character into its owner's inkwell facedown: it's gone from play, though the opponent gets an extra ink for it.
Sapphire has the most items (25) and the most inkable cards (170) of any ink, plus a lot of Support and Ward. What it trades away is card draw: it has the fewest cards that draw, and the fewest songs, so it depends on its ramp turns paying off.

Counted by TurnZero HQ from the 1,229 cards in Fabled (set 9) through Hyperia City (set 14), the sets legal in Core Constructed as of November 2026. Each full name counts once, so an Enchanted version or a reprint isn't counted twice, and a dual-ink card counts for both of its inks. The last column compares Sapphire with the other five.
Shift is left out because every ink has plenty of it. A card that only gives a keyword to other characters isn't counted.
The classifications Sapphire has an unusually large share of: Princess (22), Inventor (15) and Detective (11). The Lorcana keywords guide explains each keyword.
How many Sapphire cards have rules text that does each of these at all, whoever it targets. It shows what the ink leans on, not how strong its cards are: a card that draws one card and a card that draws three count the same.
Each is Sapphire only and legal in Core Constructed as of November 2026. They show the ink's plan, not a decklist or this month's best cards.

Card selection
A Core Constructed or Infinity deck uses at most two inks, so almost every Sapphire deck is one of these five pairs. Each page covers how the pair plays, its key cards and its starter decks.
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it only fits a deck built from exactly that pair. As of November 2026, the Core-legal ones are from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and 6 of them include Sapphire.

A starter deck is the simplest way to try a Sapphire deck: it arrives as a legal two-ink deck you can upgrade. Ravensburger has made 8 with Sapphire; each has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks your list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build.
Sapphire is blue. Its symbol under a card's cost is blue and the frame is tinted to match, so players often call a Sapphire deck a blue deck.
Ramp. In the Core sets as of November 2026, 47 Sapphire cards put cards into an inkwell outside the normal once-a-turn inking, more than the other five inks combined. Sapphire also has the most items (25) and the most inkable cards (170), and removes characters by putting them into their owner's inkwell.
Ramp means getting more ink than the one card a turn the rules allow, so expensive cards come down early. In Lorcana that usually means effects that put an extra card into your inkwell, which is Sapphire's specialty.
208 as of November 2026, counting each full name once across Fabled (set 9) through Hyperia City (set 14): 153 characters, 16 actions, 9 songs, 25 items and 5 locations. 6 of them are dual-ink cards from Attack of the Vine!.
It depends on what you want the deck to do, and the strongest pair changes with each set. Sapphire can pair with any of the other five inks: Amber (ramp and resilient questers), Amethyst (control, card draw and ramp), Emerald (ward, ramp and lore), Ruby (ramp into removal) and Steel (items, ramp and removal). Each pair has its own page on TurnZero HQ.
