What's in the box

These are the cards that decide how the deck plays. Each one links to its card page, with its current price.

How it plays

Gardevoir ex's Psychic Embrace attaches a Basic Psychic Energy from your discard pile to one of your Psychic Pokémon as often as you like each turn, putting 2 damage counters on that Pokémon each time. That damage is the point: Drifloon's Balloon Blast does 30 for each damage counter on itself, so a Drifloon given four Energy by Gardevoir carries 8 counters and hits for 240.

Four Kirlia draw with Refinement (discard a card, draw 2), which also puts Energy in the discard pile for Gardevoir. The box adds Mew ex, Lumineon V and Radiant Greninja for drawing and searching. The skill is in counting: each attach is damage you are doing to yourself, and a miscount hands your opponent an easy Knock Out.

Is it Standard legal?

No. Gardevoir ex, Drifloon, Mew ex, Iono, Arven, Professor's Research, Jacq, Artazon, Nest Ball, Super Rod and Bravery Charm carry the G mark, and Kirlia, Ralts, Cresselia, Lumineon V and Radiant Greninja are older still. All of them have rotated. It is an Expanded deck now.

Every upgrade card below carries an H, I or J regulation mark, the marks legal in Standard since the April 10, 2026 rotation, checked against our Pokémon card catalog on October 10, 2026. Basic Energy is always legal. See which cards are legal in each format for how regulation marks and reprints decide it.

Upgrade path 1: Keep it for Expanded

The box list was built for Standard in 2024 and still works in Expanded, where every card is legal. The upgrades that matter are the ones that recur Energy and attackers. Night Stretcher gets back a Psychic Energy or a Knocked Out Drifloon, and Lana's Aid returns up to three Pokémon without a Rule Box or Basic Energy in any mix.

A second Boss's Orders is useful in any version: Drifloon's damage is high, and choosing its target is how it takes two Prize cards instead of one.

What comes out: Jacq, one Bravery Charm and one Artazon.

Upgrade path 2: Rebuild it around Mega Gardevoir for Standard

The current Gardevoir is Mega Gardevoir ex, a different card with a different plan. Overflowing Wishes searches your deck for a Basic Psychic Energy for each of your Benched Pokémon and attaches one to each, and Mega Symphonia does 50 damage for each Psychic Energy attached to all of your Pokémon. Fill the Bench, attach, and the damage scales with the whole board rather than one attacker.

The current Kirlia has Call Sign, which searches for up to 3 Pokémon, so it sets up the Bench Overflowing Wishes wants. Mega Signal finds Mega Gardevoir ex directly, and Lillie's Determination replaces Iono and Professor's Research.

What comes out: Everything rotated: Gardevoir ex, the old Kirlia, Drifloon, Mew ex, Lumineon V, Radiant Greninja and the G-mark Trainers.
