Dragapult ex's Phantom Dive does 200 damage to the Active Pokémon and puts 6 damage counters on your opponent's Benched Pokémon however you like. Over two or three attacks those counters Knock Out small support Pokémon and leave bigger ones in range, so one attacker takes Prize cards from the whole board. It is a Tera Pokémon, so attacks do no damage to it while it is on your Bench.
The box runs a full 4-4-4 Dreepy line with 4 Buddy-Buddy Poffin and 2 Rare Candy. Xatu's Clairvoyant Sense attaches a Basic Psychic Energy from your hand to a Benched Pokémon and draws 2, which powers Dragapult (it needs one Fire and one Psychic) and keeps your hand full. Tatsugiri finds a Supporter from the top 6 cards while it is Active.
The deck is strong but asks a lot. Phantom Dive's six counters are a decision every turn, and the deck has to set up a Stage 2 before a faster deck runs it over.
Partly. The Dragapult line, Tatsugiri, Fezandipiti ex, Buddy-Buddy Poffin, Unfair Stamp and Rescue Board carry the H mark, and Rare Candy, Ultra Ball, Switch and Boss's Orders have legal reprints. Iono, Arven, Earthen Vessel, Counter Catcher, Super Rod, Mela, Professor Turo's Scenario, both Technical Machines and the Natu and Xatu line carry the G mark and rotated on April 10, 2026. That is about 20 cards to replace before the deck is Standard legal.
Every upgrade card below carries an H, I or J regulation mark, the marks legal in Standard since the April 10, 2026 rotation, checked against our Pokémon card catalog on October 10, 2026. Basic Energy is always legal. See which cards are legal in each format for how regulation marks and reprints decide it.
This is the upgrade most owners need first. Replace the rotated draw (Iono, Arven) with Lillie's Determination, which shuffles your hand away and draws 6, or 8 if you have not taken a Prize card yet. Dawn replaces Arven's searching role in a Stage 2 deck: it finds Dreepy, Drakloak and Dragapult ex at once.
Xatu has no legal replacement with the same Ability, so lean on Drakloak instead. Its Recon Directive looks at the top 2 cards each turn and keeps one, and with four Drakloak in play over a game that is a lot of quiet card selection. Crispin attaches one of the two Basic Energy it finds, which covers the Fire and Psychic Phantom Dive needs.
Lillie's Determination
Ascended Heroes #192

Finds a Fire and a Psychic Energy and attaches one.
Night Stretcher
Ascended Heroes #196
Replaces Super Rod for getting back a Dragapult.
Ultra Ball
30th Celebration #128
Already in the box as a G print; this I print keeps it legal either way.
What comes out: Iono, Arven, Earthen Vessel, Counter Catcher, Super Rod, Mela, Professor Turo's Scenario, both Technical Machines, and the Natu and Xatu line.
Tournament Dragapult lists add a second way to place damage counters. Dusknoir's Cursed Blast puts 13 counters on one Pokémon (Dusknoir is Knocked Out doing it), which combined with Phantom Dive's spread finishes off a Pokémon ex your attack could not reach. Lillie's Clefairy ex turns the Weakness of your opponent's Dragon Pokémon to Psychic, which is the card the Dragapult mirror is decided by.
Budew's Itchy Pollen costs no Energy and stops your opponent from playing Items on their next turn, which slows down decks that rely on Rare Candy and Ultra Ball. Boss's Orders, the second copy, is how you pick the Prize card you need.
Dusknoir
Prismatic Evolutions #37
Cursed Blast: 13 damage counters, finishing what Phantom Dive started.
Duskull
Prismatic Evolutions #35
Run a 2-1-2 Duskull line beside the Dreepy line.
Lillie's Clefairy ex
Ascended Heroes #76
Makes opposing Dragon Pokémon weak to Psychic. The mirror match card.
Budew
Ascended Heroes #16
Item lock for a turn while you set up.
Boss's Orders
Ascended Heroes #183
A second copy to pick the Knock Out you need.
What comes out: One Tatsugiri, one Buddy-Buddy Poffin and two Energy, once the Standard swaps above are done.
