What's in the box

These are the cards that decide how the deck plays. Each one links to its card page, with its current price.

How it plays

Espeon ex is a Stage 1 that evolves from Eevee. Solar Beatdown costs one Psychic and one other Energy and does 30 damage for each of your Pokémon in play, so a full board of six Pokémon is 180. The deck's job is to fill the Bench and keep it full.

The promo Victini helps directly: its Call for Family searches for up to 2 Basic Pokémon and puts them on your Bench. The Japanese list mixes Psychic, Fire and Grass Pokémon (Cherrim, Ninetales, Azumarill, Kangaskhan) with Energy for each.

Is it Standard legal?

The headline Pokémon ex are 30th Celebration cards with the J mark, so they are Standard legal. The English decklist has not been published as of October 10, 2026; this guide describes the Japanese version, released September 16, 2026, which shares the same promos and is expected to match. Check the box list when it arrives before buying singles to replace anything.

Every upgrade card below carries an H, I or J regulation mark, the marks legal in Standard since the April 10, 2026 rotation, checked against our Pokémon card catalog on October 10, 2026. Basic Energy is always legal. See which cards are legal in each format for how regulation marks and reprints decide it.

Upgrade path 1: Fill the Bench faster

Solar Beatdown reaches 180 with six Pokémon in play, and every card that benches Pokémon quickly is damage. Buddy-Buddy Poffin puts two Basics with 70 HP or less onto the Bench. Pikachu ex's Pika-Pika Parade costs one Energy of any type and puts any number of Basic Pokémon from your deck onto your Bench, which fills the board in one attack.

Precious Trolley, an ACE SPEC, does the same from an Item: any number of Basic Pokémon onto your Bench.

What comes out: The Marill line and Tropius, which take Bench space without adding to the plan.

Upgrade path 2: Let the Bench draw cards

If the Bench is always full, make it work. Dudunsparce's Run Away Draw draws 3 cards and then shuffles Dudunsparce back into your deck, so it is a draw engine that also frees a Bench spot for a fresh Pokémon. Fezandipiti ex draws 3 after one of your Pokémon is Knocked Out, and counts toward Solar Beatdown while it waits.

What comes out: Comfey and one Cherrim line.
