Riftbound · Domains
Chaos is Riftbound's purple domain and its trickiest. It moves units around the board, uses its trash as a second hand, hides cards facedown to play later for free and digs through its deck for what it needs. What it lacks is permanence.
Chaos is purple, one of Riftbound's six domains. Tricks and second chances. Moves units around, plays from the trash, hides cards facedown and digs for the card it needs.
Riot's theme for it: "unpredictability, rebellion, and trickiness." As of November 2026, 19 of the game's 58 Legends have Chaos, and any of them can lead a deck that plays its cards.
Chaos plays where the opponent is not. It has more cards that move units than any other domain: its own, with Ride the Wind or a Ganking champion such as Yasuo, Windrider, and the opponent's, sent back to base. A Chaos deck tends to win by showing up at the battlefield the opponent left open.
It also treats the trash as a resource. Chaos has the most cards that play from or use your trash, from The Harrowing (play a unit from your trash) to the Flow spells it shares with Order and Fury, which can be cast a second time from the trash. And it has the most Hidden cards, hidden facedown at a battlefield and played later as a Reaction for no Energy.
The cost is lasting effect. Chaos has trouble removing threats for good, and its bonuses on units rarely last past the turn, so a Chaos deck often leans on its other domain, usually Order or Fury, for removal.

Weaknesses
These start from what Riot's Deckbuilding Primer says Chaos is good and bad at. The other domain in your pair, and your Legend, can cover a weakness: a Legend that draws cards helps a domain that doesn't.
Counted from the 953 main-set cards from Proving Grounds and Origins through Radiance as of November 2026, without Legends, battlefields, runes and tokens, one per name. A card with two domains counts for both.
The regions and types that show up most on Chaos cards: Bilgewater, Ionia and the Shadow Isles, then Bandle City and its Yordles. Of its 166 cards, 147 have only Chaos and fit any deck whose Legend has it; the other 19 are two-domain cards, which need a Legend with both, and 19 of those are Signature cards tied to one champion.
Each has only Chaos, so it fits any Chaos deck. They show the domain's style, not a ranking of its best cards.

Chaos always shares a deck with one other domain. These are the five pairs with Chaos, each with its Legends, Signature cards and how it plays.
For Magic: The Gathering players, the nearest color is black. Chaos plays from the graveyard like black and tricks like blue, with a lot of movement Magic has no direct version of. Mono-Black in Magic →
Chaos is purple. Riot's Core Rules give each of the six domains a color, a symbol and a one-letter shorthand, and Riot's Deckbuilding Primer describes Chaos as "unpredictability, rebellion, and trickiness."
The most movement in the game, for itself and against the opponent. The most cards that use the trash, and the most Hidden and Flow cards. Card selection that finds the piece a combo or a game needs. What it struggles with: Trouble removing threats for good. Bonuses on units that rarely last past the turn. Smaller units than Fury, Calm, Body or Order on average.
As of November 2026, 19 Legends have Chaos, each with one other domain: Fury and Chaos (Annie, Dark Child, Jinx, Loose Cannon, Draven, Glorious Executioner, Pyke, Bloodharbor Ripper, Zed, Master of Shadows, Ziggs, Hexplosives Expert); Calm and Chaos (Yasuo, Unforgiven, Irelia, Blade Dancer, Vex, Gloomist, Riven, The Exile); Mind and Chaos (Teemo, Swift Scout, Ezreal, Prodigal Explorer, Diana, Scorn of the Moon, Mel, Soul's Reflection); Body and Chaos (Miss Fortune, Bounty Hunter, Sivir, Battle Mistress, Kha'Zix, Voidreaver, Evelynn, Agony's Embrace); Chaos and Order (Kennen, Heart of the Tempest).
Every Legend has two domains, so Chaos always comes with one of the other five: Fury and Chaos, Calm and Chaos, Mind and Chaos, Body and Chaos, Chaos and Order. Every one of those pairs has at least one Legend as of November 2026.
Chaos. From Origins through Radiance, 17 of the 49 cards that can be hidden are Chaos, and Mind is next with 12.
