Alistair, the Brigadier card art

Alistair, the Brigadier

Legendary Creature — Human Soldier MV 4

Tracked across real Commander games played through TurnZero HQ.

What it does

Whenever you cast a historic spell, create a 1/1 white Soldier creature token. (Artifacts, legendaries, and Sagas are historic.)

Whenever Alistair attacks, you may pay 8. If you do, creatures you control get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of historic permanents you control.

Rulings

One official ruling, as Wizards published it.

  • 2023-10-13

You choose whether to pay 8 as Alistair's second ability resolves. Notably, once it begins to resolve, none of your opponents may take actions that might change the result before it happens, such as casting a spell that destroys one of your historic permanents.

Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Every version of Alistair, the Brigadier

4 printings, newest first. Prices are the market figures Scryfall publishes, refreshed nightly. A printing with no figure shows a dash rather than a zero, because Scryfall publishes none for some of them.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Alistair, the Brigadier. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.

Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
