Rulings
4 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.
- 2011-06-01
Gaining control of Contested War Zone doesn’t cause it to tap or untap.
- 2011-06-01
The word “you” in a permanent’s trigger condition always refers to the permanent’s current controller.
- 2011-06-01
In some multiplayer formats, creatures controlled by different players may deal combat damage to you simultaneously. If this happens, you control each triggered ability and can put them on the stack in any order. The last ability to resolve will determine who ends up controlling Contested War Zone.
- 2011-06-01
The last activated ability affects all attacking creatures, not just those you control.
Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Contested War Zone — a name search across every version, for the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.
Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only — no individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
