Take the Bait card art

Take the Bait

Instant MV 4

Tracked across real Commander games played through TurnZero HQ.

What it does

Cast this spell only during combat on an opponent's turn.

Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to you and planeswalkers you control this turn. Untap all attacking creatures and goad them. After this phase, there is an additional combat phase.

Rulings

2 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.

  • 2024-02-02

Take the Bait doesn't give the opponent whose turn it is an additional main phase. They will move directly from the end of combat step of one combat phase to the beginning of combat step of the next one.

  • 2024-02-02

Untapping and goading the attacking creatures won't remove them from combat, even if they're attacking you.

Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Every version of Take the Bait

2 printings, newest first. Prices are the market figures Scryfall publishes, refreshed nightly. A printing with no figure shows a dash rather than a zero, because Scryfall publishes none for some of them.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Take the Bait. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.

Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
